Project Description

Built in 1826, First Churches in Northampton, MA, is an iconic building in the heart of the town that was in desperate need of repair. Five Star completed a historic renovation of the church, painstakingly keeping its celebrated character while making sure the structure was sound. The renovation included installing a new slate roof, repairing the plaster ceiling, recasting decorative plaster medallions, and hiring local artists to repaint gold leaf decorative bands. The 77-foot high curved ceilings required creative scaffolding that was erected around equally curved church pews. Five Star won a Historic Preservation Award for the project.
